Overview

The Night Surcharge feature in EasyTaxiOffice enables additional charges for bookings during late-night hours. It allows taxi operators to define specific time periods and apply custom pricing adjustments, such as multipliers, based on the type of vehicle and time range. This ensures fair compensation for night services and prevents undercharging for longer or late-night journeys.

Accessing the Night Surcharge Settings

To manage the night surcharge settings:

  1. Log in to the Admin Panel.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Night Surcharge.

Setting Night Surcharge

Night surcharge defines an increase in pricing for journeys occurring within specified time ranges.

Active Night Surcharge: Enables or disables the night surcharge feature, which applies additional fees to bookings scheduled during designated night time hours.

Exclude Night Surcharge from Fixed Price: Prevents the night surcharge from applying to fixed-price bookings, keeping them consistent regardless of the time.

Add a New Rule:

  • Click `+New`.

  • Vehicle: Select one or more specific vehicle types, or apply the rule to all vehicles.

  • Time period: Define the exact start and end of the surcharge period (e.g., Monday 12:00 to Sunday 12:00).

  • Multiplier: Adjust pricing by adding a fixed amount or applying a multiplier (e.g., 20% increase using ×1.2 multiplier).

Example:
Vehicle Days Time Range Surcharge Multiplier
All Mon-Sun 22:00 – 06:00 ×1.2
A standard fare of £10 booked at 11:30 PM on a Friday will become £12 due to the ×1.2 multiplier.

Common Scenarios

Scenario 1: Booking at 5:45 AM

  • Applies Surcharge? Yes, because it falls within the 22:00 – 06:00 range.

Scenario 2: Booking at 6:01 AM

  • Applies Surcharge? No, it's outside the defined surcharge hours.

Scenario 3: Booking with Fixed Price (when “Exclude Night Surcharge from Fixed Price” is enabled)

  • Applies Surcharge? No, regardless of the time.
