What is Time Pricing?

Time Pricing lets you charge customers based on how long a journey takes, rather than only how far they travel. This can reflect real-world scenarios where traffic, waiting times, or multiple stops increase the time spent on a trip.

For instance, journeys through congested areas may take significantly longer despite covering a short distance. Time Pricing ensures that drivers are fairly compensated for their time in such cases.

How Time Pricing Works with Distance Pricing

EasyTaxiOffice allows Time Pricing to be applied in addition to Distance Pricing. When both models are active:

  • The Distance Pricing calculates the fare based on miles or kilometres travelled.

  • The Time Pricing adds an additional charge based on the duration of the trip (in minutes).

This combined structure is ideal for scenarios like:

  • City centre journeys with heavy traffic

  • Services involving waiting periods at pickup points

  • Trips that include multiple short-distance stops but take extended time

Enabling Time Pricing

To configure Time Pricing in your system:

  1. Go to the Admin Panel.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Prices > Distance & Time Pricing.

  3. Add Price per minute in the Time section.

  4. Click on Save.

Example Scenario

Suppose you want to add a time-based charge of £0.20 per minute for journey duration, in addition to distance pricing.

If a trip takes 30 minutes, the Time Pricing portion would be:

  • 30 minutes × £0.20 = £6

This amount is added to the fare calculated via Distance Pricing.

Key Notes

  • Time Pricing is an additive component; it does not replace Distance Pricing unless explicitly configured.

  • The price per minute is set globally and applies equally to all vehicle types.

  • Ideal for dynamic city environments where journey duration varies significantly.

When to Use Time Pricing

Use Time Pricing in combination with Distance Pricing if you provide services such as:

  • Airport pickups involving wait times

  • Inner-city routes prone to congestion
