What is Airport Detection?

Airport Detection allows the system to recognise when a booking includes an airport location (either as a pickup or drop-off point). When a booking address matches one of the predefined airport locations, or a selected zone is configured as an airport, it is automatically flagged as an airport job, triggering relevant airport-specific rules such as:

  • Display to request flight details
  • Meet & greet services
  • Airport meeting points
  • Additional payment restriction
  • Flight tracking (if integrated)

How to Access Airport Detection Settings

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Navigate to Airport Detection
  3. Configure the available options based on your operational needs

How Airport Detection Works

Airport Detection can work in two ways:

  1. By postcode – if the pickup or drop-off postcode matches the airport postcode list
  2. By zone – if the selected zone is marked as an airport

This allows you to use postcode-based matching, zone-based matching, or both together.

How to Add Locations (By postcodes)

  1. The system only accepts postcodes (e.g. E16 2PX). Full addresses (e.g. London City Airport, E16 2PX, UK) will not be detected.
  2. Enter airport postcodes, separated by a comma or on a new line.
  3. You can use full postcodes for precise matching or shorter postcode areas for broader matching.

Example:
RH6 0PJ,
RH6 0NP,
RH6 0RN

How to Add Locations (By zones)

Airport Detection can also be configured using zones instead of postcodes. This is useful when you want broader control over areas such as airport terminals, surrounding roads, or custom-defined regions.

Steps to Configure Airport Zones

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Navigate to Zones.

  3. Create a new zone or edit an existing one.

  4. Enable the option to mark the zone as an Airport Zone.

  5. Save your changes.

Related Features

Once an airport journey is detected, it can work together with the following features:

  • Flight details – such as flight number, flight time and flight city
  • Meeting points – you can assign meeting points specifically for airport jobs
  • Meet & greet – can be enabled globally and made compulsory for airport pickups if required
  • Cash payment restriction – cash payment can be disabled for airport pickups
  • Flight tracking – available when a supported flight details integration is enabled

Example Scenarios

Scenario 1: Airport as Pickup

  • Pickup: Gatwick North Terminal
  • Drop-off: 45 Park Lane

The system detects the airport at the pickup stage, flags the booking as an airport job, and applies any configured airport-related rules such as flight details, waiting time, meet & greet services, or airport meeting points.

Scenario 2: Airport as Drop-off

  • Pickup: 123 High Street
  • Drop-off: Heathrow Terminal 3

The system recognises the airport location, flags the booking accordingly, and applies any relevant rules automatically.

Scenario 3: Detection by Zone

  • Pickup: A location inside a zone marked as airport
  • Drop-off: Standard city address

Even if there is no postcode match, the booking is still treated as an airport job because the selected zone is configured as an airport.

Best Practices

  • Add all commonly used airports
  • Include exact postcodes where possible for better accuracy
  • Use broader postcode areas only when needed
  • Keep your airport list updated
  • Regularly review detection accuracy in bookings
  • Test both pickup and drop-off scenarios before going live
