Overview

This guide explains how to configure pricing based on travel distance within your taxi management platform. This setup allows you to apply dynamic fare rates depending on how far a passenger travels and which vehicle type is selected.

Accessing Distance and Time Pricing Settings

  1. Log in to your Admin Panel.

  2. Navigate to SettingsDistance and Time.

Setting Distance Thresholds

Distance thresholds define pricing for specific ranges of travel distance.

  1. Add a New Threshold:

    • Click `+New`.

    • Specify the start and end of the distance range (in miles or kilometers).

    • Example: From 0 to 10 km.

  2. Final Threshold:

    • Create a final threshold with a very high upper limit (e.g., 9999) to ensure all distances are covered.

    • This avoids fares showing as £0 for longer trips.

Vehicle Type Price Modifiers

You can adjust pricing based on vehicle type.

  1. Go to SettingsVehicle Types to manage available types.

  2. In the Distance and Time section, add a price value under the relevant vehicle column.

Example Setups

Here is an example of how distance thresholds can be used to set different prices based on how far a trip extends.

  • Example 1:

    • Distance: 0–10 km

    • Price: £1/km

    • Trip of 8.4 km → £8.40

  • Example 2:

    • Distance: 10–19 km

    • Price: £1.80/km

    • Trip of 10 km → £18.00

Using the Distance Price Calculator

Use the calculator to test your pricing settings:

  1. In the Distance and Time tab, find the Distance Price Calculator.

  2. Input a trip distance and click Calculate.

  3. View how pricing varies by vehicle type.

Setting Up Time

In addition to distance-based pricing, you can configure a single rate for time-based pricing, applied consistently per minute across all trip durations.

  1. Define Per-Minute Rate:

    • Enter the rate to be applied for each minute of the journey.

    • Example: £0.50 per minute applies to all time lengths.

  2. Combine With Distance Settings:

    • Time pricing can be used in combination with distance pricing.

    • The total fare will reflect both calculations if both are set.

Setting Up Minimum Fare

  • Set a uniform minimum fare for all vehicle types, or customize it individually for each type

  • Using the setting Add Minimum fare price to Distance & Time fare price, you can specify whether the minimum fare should be combined with or override the calculated fare based on distance and time.
